A passenger ferry built in 1966

A non-profit association that has taken children out onto the Main since 1994, working from the Frankfurt Osthafen with the city's port company. Around 5,000 children a year go out across its river programmes.

That ferry was one of three second-hand craft the association had been running, and it described all three as having become very prone to breaking down.

Passengers sit forward of the helm on an open deck. On a school trip that is an operational decision rather than a styling one: one person at the wheel sees every child on board without turning round.
